Western brands in many Arab nations are facing a wave of boycott campaigns, as the Israel-Hamas war rages on. Shoppers in Egypt and Jordan are boycotting companies perceived to have taken pro-Israeli stances, or alleged to have financial ties to Israel. Many are shifting to local alternatives in response to Tel Aviv's military offensive in Gaza. Western fast-food chains and restaurants in Egypt appear deserted. Sales at the country's McDonald's franchise in October and November fell reportedly by at least 70% on-year.
