The origin of the name Winnie the Pooh from Canada.
Instead of Pooh A.A. Milne gave the name Winnie, or Christopher, who was his son. Christopher actually saw a black bear named Winnie at London Zoo and finally chose the bear's name.
Milne also named Pooh after the bear. It just so happened that a real black bear was bought for $20 in Canada by a soldier returning to England after World War I.
