Russia integrated the Bulava intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into its submarine fleet, a significant upgrade to its strategic nuclear arsenal. The Bulava missile was accepted after rigorous testing, including a successful test launch from a distance of 5,632 km. Russian state media quoted the missile's chief designer Yuri Solomonov as saying its adoption was announced in a decree dated May 7.
