Russia Targets Drone Production, West Trains 10,000 Troops
Russian strikes in the early hours of January 1 killed one person in Ukraine, taking the toll in New Year assaults to four. Ukraine's Air Force claims to have downed 45 Iranian-made Shahed drones, of which 32 were reportedly fired after midnight. The Kyiv City Military Administration said its air defenses had downed 32 aerial targets over the city. A piece of drone used in the attack on the capital reportedly had a hand-written sign on it in Russian, saying "Happy New Year”.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky addressed Russian citizens following Russia’s barrage of strikes on Kyiv saying the “world will never forgive” Russia. French President Macron vowed that France will “unfailingly” support Ukraine until the end of the war.
