Is Brooklyn Beckham's roast beef recipe worth it
Everyone’s talking about Brooklyn Beckham’s meat - and not necessarily in a good way.
The wannabe chef came in for a roasting this week after he posted a video of his own spin on a traditional Sunday roast with chef Kevin Lee on his Instagram channel.
Some people laid into the fact they think the rib of beef he served up was ‘raw’, and others were left aghast at the ‘heart attack-inducing’ amount of butter he covered it in before cooking.
The recipe, shared on Lee’s own Instagram channel as well as Brooklyn’s, is easy enough. Take a dry-aged rib of beef, coat in a mixture of garlic, thyme, rosemary and what feels like a ton of butter, then ‘reverse sear’ - cooked low first then high to finish it off, rather than the other way round - and ta-dah.
Of course, these things are always slightly more complicated than they seem at first - especially to an amateur cook. Maybe that’s why Brooklyn brings a chef in on the action.
Firstly, you won’t necessarily find a dry-aged bit of beef at your local supermarket.
Still catching up on the Christmas rush, my own local butchers doesn’t have any at short notice - though apparently they can hang some for me for use in three weeks time.
