The Icon of France
The Eiffel Tower is a large iron lattice tower located on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It was designed and built by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel as the entrance arch to the 1889 World's Fair, which was held in Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution. The tower is 324 meters (1,063 feet) tall, about the same height as an 81-story building, and it was the tallest man-made structure in the world when it was completed in 1889. It remains one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world and is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the world, with millions of visitors every year. The Eiffel Tower has three levels that are open to the public, with restaurants and observation decks on the first and second levels. The tower is illuminated at night, and its sparkling lights have made it an iconic symbol of the city of Paris
