ISLAM
Islam is a monotheistic religion founded in the 7th century by the prophet Muhammad. It is the second largest religion in the world, with over 1.8 billion followers. Muslims believe in one God, Allah, and that Muhammad is the final prophet of God. The central text of Islam is the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the word of God as revealed to Muhammad. The practices and customs of Islam, known as Islamic law, are derived from the teachings of the Quran and the example of Muhammad. These include the Five Pillars of Islam, which are the declaration of faith, prayer, giving of alms, fasting, and the pilgrimage to Mecca.
