28 Days Later: The Rage Virus's Terrifying Reality!

Jim's Legacy In 28 days later after a group of animal rights activists break into a research facility and release one of the primates infected by a mysterious pathogen despite the warning of the doctors they are immediately attacked by the creature This results in them becoming infected by what would be dubbed the Rage Virus resulting in them assaulting others and spreading the virus across all of Britain Jim a bicycle courier wakes up from his coma 28 days later to find the hospital completely abandoned As he makes his way through a hauntingly deserted London he begins to understand what has just taken place from newspapers lying around that describe a mass exodus due to the virus Not long after he attracts the attention of a pack of infected individuals who begin chasing him but he is rescued by 2 survivors Selena and Mark Not long after he insists on visiting his home to find out about the whereabouts of his parents to which his 2 companions reluctantly agree It is here that the film gives both Jim and us the audience a first taste of the effects of a zombie apocalypse on people in a more realistic sense as Jim discovers that both his parents had committed suicide It gives us a more grounded example of what a lot of people might choose to do in such a scenario rather than turn into mindless monsters or get devoured by one The still deeply traumatized Jim lights a candle at night still unfamiliar with the current world and not thinking straight after the group decides to stay the night at his house This act however attracts a fresh wave of the infected during which Mark one of the survivors who rescued him is infected by a zombie resulting in Celine the other survivor killing him with 0 hesitation This lack of empathy shown by Celine towards a person that she was probably journaling with But at least longer than Jim shows us just how ruthless the world had become If Jim's parents' suicide had not had this effect already Mark's death certainly drives home this point As the 2 journey along they come across a cabbie named Frank and his daughter who A frustrated Frank kicks the gate upon which an infected body is balanced leading to a drop of the zombie's blood entering his eyes resulting in his becoming infected However before anybody can react he is shot dead by a group of soldiers who appear out of nowhere They then escort the survivors to a military facility under the command of a major named Henry West who showers them with hospitality It is here we are given another dose of a reality check and a glimpse of social and moral decay when it is revealed that the Major was actually luring female survivors through that
