History of England Welcome to our Febspot channel! Today, we're taking a trip through the history of England. England has a long and varied history, dating back over two thousand years. The first humans arrived in England during the Paleolithic period, around 500,000 years ago. During the Neolithic period, around 4000 BC, the first farming communities began to emerge, and the construction of megalithic monuments such as Stonehenge began. In 43 AD, the Roman Empire conquered England, and the country became a Roman province. Roman rule lasted until the 5th century, when Germanic tribes such as the Angles and Saxons began to migrate to England. This period is known as the Dark Ages, and saw the rise of the legendary King Arthur. The next major period in English history was the Middle Ages, which saw the emergence of a strong English monarchy and the Norman Conquest of 1066, when William the Conqueror invaded England and became the first Norman King of England. The Middle Ages also saw the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215, which established the principle of limited government and the protection of individual rights. During the Renaissance and the Tudor period, England experienced a cultural and artistic revival, and saw the rise of figures such as William Shakespeare and Sir Francis Drake. The Tudor period also saw the establishment of the Church of England and the beginning of the British Empire. In the modern era, England has played a major role in shaping the course of world history. The country was at the forefront of the Industrial Revolution and the scientific revolution, and has been a leader in the fields of literature, art, and science.
