The game is played on a large oval-shaped field, with a rectangular strip in the center called the pitch. One team, the fielding team, takes the field while the other team, the batting team, sends two batsmen to the pitch to play. The objective of the game is for the batting team to score runs by hitting the ball and running back and forth between the two sets of wickets at each end of the pitch, while the fielding team tries to prevent them from scoring and get them "out" using various methods. The team that scores the most runs wins the game.
