Sindbad and the Sea Serpent
On his seventh voyage, Sindbad believed he had seen every terror the sea could conjure storms, demons, and islands that breathed like beasts. But then came the night when the waters fell silent. No waves, no wind only the rising of something vast beneath the ship.
The sea serpent was said to be older than the oceans themselves, its body coiled deep in the abyss, its eyes glowing like suns in the dark. Sailors claimed that its hiss was not the sound of breath but the whisper of drowned souls carried in its scales.
Sindbads men begged him to turn back, but the beast had already chosen its prey. They say those who look into its eyes are swallowed not by the sea, but by an eternity of screaming waters.
