An earthquake destroys villages in eastern Afghanistan and kills hundreds A new 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit the same region today, according to the US Geological Survey (USGC). The quake originated 34 kilometres (nearly 21 miles) northeast of Jalalabad, at 12:29 GMT, at a depth of 10km (nearly 6.2 miles) the USGS stated.
