In the 1920s, inventor John W. Pitts designed the Pitts Sky Car one of the earliest experiments in vertical flight. Powered by a 90-horsepower Curtiss OX-5 engine, this prototype used a circular rotor with 60 hinged blades that opened on the downstroke and closed on the upstroke to reduce air resistance. Although the Sky Car failed to lift off, it became a crucial milestone in the evolution of helicopter and eVTOL technology. Every failure in engineering brings us one step closer to innovation. #VerticalFlight #AviationHistory #Innovation #ScienceFacts #eVTOL #FlyingCar #EngineeringHistory ---
