Great prairie bird facts

Greater Prairie Chicken (scientific name: Tympanuchus cupido). Physical Characteristics: This bird has a bright orange air sac on its neck that it inflates during mating season to attract females. Its feathers have a distinctive striped pattern. Habitat: Greater prairie chickens are typically found in large grasslands with few trees. Behavior: Males perform a unique courtship dance, in which they inflate the air sac on their necks and emit a distinctive "booming" sound.
