Facts about the Red Ibis or Scarlet Ibis

Its habitat is tropical South America and parts of the Caribbean, such as Trinidad and Tobago. This bird is a water bird that forages in shallow waters, swamps, and mangrove forests. Its long, curved beak is used to forage in the mud. The bright red color of its feathers comes from carotenoid pigments obtained from its diet, such as shrimp and small crustaceans.
