Before it became the symbol of freedom in America, the Statue of Liberty was designed for Egypt to stand proudly beside the Suez Canal. But history took a different turn. Rejected for being too strange and too expensive, the sculptors dream was buried in the sands of the Nile until it rose again across the ocean.
