Four astronauts will go around the Moon on the Artemis II mission, which is scheduled to launch in early 2026. The first crewed test flight of the Space Launch System rocket, the Orion spacecraft, and the Exploration Ground Systems at NASA's Kennedy Space Center Florida required to support them will take place during this roughly ten-day trip.
In addition to being the first time humans have seen the Moon up close in more than 50 years, Artemis II will help prepare for future missions to Mars and future human landings on the Moon, beginning with the Artemis III mission.
