Alphabet-owned Waymo scaled up and now leads the American robotaxi market by far, while Baidu-owned Apollo Go dominated in China. In the San Francisco Bay Area, there are now multiple robotaxi services operating, including Zoox and Waymo, although only Waymo provides commercial rides completely free of any human safety operators. Tesla finally launched their robotaxis in Austin and San Francisco but both states include human safety supervisors onboard ready to quickly take over driving.
