In This Video - In the year 2027, Indonesia teeters on the edge of societal collapse, driven by rising tensions around race, identity, and intergenerational trauma. Edwin (Morgan Oey), a substitute teacher and Chinese-Indonesian man haunted by the violent anti-Chinese riots of 1998, has lived with a promise: to locate his sisters son, born from that tragedy. Groomed by guilt and sorrow, Edwin takes a job at Thorn High (also known as Duri High), a juvenile detention school for troubled teens, in hopes that his nephew might be among its students. At Thorn High, Edwin struggles from day one. The students are volatile, the environment harsh, and many carry scars of their ownpoverty, neglect, or hatred sown from outside. Among them is Jefri (Omara Esteghlal), a defiant leader whose contempt for Edwin is laced with deeper, unexplained resentments. Despite classroom discipline and attempts at connection, Edwin remains an outsider, worried and watchful. Edwins search seems promising when he senses that his nephew might be among the rebellious young faces, especially one named Khristo. But then a new wave of anti-Chinese riots sweeps the city. The violence reaches Thorn High; monster mobs, fear, and discrimination surge outward, and the school becomes a fortress under siege. Trapped inside with the very students hes been trying to reach, Edwin must shift from teacher to survivor. As walls close in and order breaks down, alliances form and shatter, moral lines blur, and every corridor, locked door, and broken classroom becomes a battleground. Edwins single promiseto find his nephewis tested by violence, betrayal, and the echo of past horrors.
