In This Video - In 1968, a team of North Korean commandos attempts to assassinate South Korean President Park Chung-hee, but the mission fails. In response, the South Korean military secretly forms Unit 684, a covert assassination squad with a single purposeto kill North Korean leader Kim Il-sung. The unit is made up of 31 men, all death-row inmates or prisoners serving life sentences, offered freedom if they succeed. The men are taken to the remote Silmido Island and placed under the ruthless command of Captain Jo and his officers. Training is brutal, pushing them to the limits of human endurance with extreme physical drills, mental conditioning, and harsh punishments. Over time, the convicts forge a strong brotherhood, their raw survival instincts honed into lethal military skill. After three years of preparation, Unit 684 is ready for deployment. However, political winds shift as South Korea begins peace talks with the North. The mission is abruptly canceled, and the government deems the unit a liability. Secret orders are issued to eliminate every member and erase all evidence of the operation. Realizing they have been betrayed, the men stage a desperate revolt, overpowering their guards and hijacking a bus to Seoul. Their escape triggers a massive military response. Surrounded on the outskirts of the city, they face their former commanders in a final, violent standoff.
