The Universes Forever Lost Part The Cosmic Horizon

We frequently think of the universe as being limitless and open, where we might eventually be able to see everything, at least in principle. However, the reality is much more bizarre. The amount of the universe that we will ever be able to see is actually limited. Space is expanding, not because we are too far away or because our telescopes are not strong enough. No matter how long we wait, the light from some galaxies will never reach us since they are already retreating so rapidly. The cosmic horizon is the name given to this imperceptible border. The universe continues to generate stars, galaxies, and entire structures beyond it, but their light will never reach our region of spacetime. We live at a unique time when there are still many far-off galaxies in the night sky. The majority of them will become unreachable in the distant future, leaving only a little island of matter. Astronomers from that era could never even realize how big the universe used to seem.
