Explore the first page of ESA Euclid's massive cosmic atlas and be in awe of millions of stars and galaxies that have been meticulously photographed in a massive 208-gigapixel mosaic. Over 500 times the area of the full moon as seen from Earth is covered by the mosaic in the Southern Sky. You can witness a unique sky dive in this video. A succession of ever-deeper zooms take you from a broad cosmic vista illuminated by about 14 million galaxies to a clear glimpse of a spinning spiral galaxy in a final image that is 600 times larger than the complete mosaic. Despite their allure, the scenes are used to further our understanding of the universe rather than for their aesthetic value. The hidden impact of dark matter and dark energy on the universe will be investigated using several of the 14 million galaxies in the initial vision. #ESA #Euclid #Darkmatter
