Virtues of Friday (Jumu‘ah) in Islam
Friday (Jumu‘ah) is the most blessed and special day of the week in Islam. It holds great honor and significance for Muslims, as it is a day filled with mercy, forgiveness, and countless rewards from Allah.
On this day, Muslims are encouraged to increase good deeds such as offering the Jumu‘ah prayer, reciting the Qur’an, sending abundant blessings (Durood) upon the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and making sincere supplications. There is a special hour on Friday during which du‘a is accepted by Allah.
Jumu‘ah is also a day of purification and renewal. The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) advised Muslims to take a bath (ghusl), wear clean clothes, apply perfume, and go early to the mosque for the Friday prayer. Listening attentively to the khutbah brings forgiveness of sins committed between two Fridays.
Friday reminds believers of unity, faith, and preparation for the Hereafter. It is a weekly opportunity to reconnect with Allah, strengthen one’s iman, and seek His blessings. Truly, Friday is a gift for the Muslim Ummah and a day of immense spiritual value.
