The Ohio Department of Transportation has reported numerous crashes and slowdowns in and out of the Cleveland area, especially on I-90 east due to slippery weather.
Ribbons of snow have made their way into northeast Ohio, causing congestion and multiple traffic accidents throughout the region.
A snow emergency has been called in Ashtabula County as the first winter storm hit northeast Ohio.
The National Weather Service, which issued a weather warning also said windy weather is expected as gusts could reach 45 mph.
"Traveling can be very difficult," the National Weather Service says. “A non-uniform blizzard can significantly impair visibility.
Snow is expected to move ashore from the lake
However, on a much larger scale, the people of Buffalo, New York, are bracing for a massive snowstorm that could hit several feet.
People are asked to take precautions before leaving the house.
Several northern counties, including Cuyahoga, Lake, Geoga, and Ashtabula counties, were under a snowfall warning due to the lake effect, according to the National Weather Service.
