THE DANCING PLAGUE OF1518
Description
The Dancing Plague of 1518 was a strange real-life event in Strasbourg where a woman suddenly began dancing uncontrollably in the street. Within days, dozens—then hundreds—of people joined her, unable to stop. Many danced for days without rest, and some even died from exhaustion. Instead of stopping it, authorities made it worse by encouraging more dancing, believing it would cure the problem. Then, just as mysteriously as it started, the outbreak ended—leaving historians unsure whether it was caused by mass hysteria, illness, or something still unexplained.
