Russia Claims Soledar Victory, Kyiv Denies l Bakhmut Shelled 200 Times

The Russian defence ministry has claimed that its forces have captured the fiercely contested town of Soledar in Donetsk Oblast. However, Ukrainian military has refuted Russia’s claims, saying “battles” were continuing in the salt-mining town. Russia claims “more than seven hundred Ukrainian troops” have been killed in Soledar over the past 3 days. Ukraine’s military claims Russia shelled the Bakhmut area over 200 times in past 24 hours. Meanwhile, Ukrainian defence minister Oleksii Reznikov said that Kyiv has become a de facto member of the NATO alliance. NATO will send surveillance aircraft to Romania to bolster its eastern flank and "monitor Russian military activity”.
