Shenzhen in China was named as the world’s best skyline, with 679 skyscrapers over 150 metres tall. The city, which borders Hong Kong, ranked well for nighttime visibility, and boasts a density of 0.39 tall buildings per square kilometre. Five other destinations in China made the top 10, including Hong Kong in third place, Wuhan in fifth, Guangzhou in sixth, Shanghai in seventh and Chongqing in joint ninth place. Other Asian destinations that made the list include Kuala Lumpur, which was eighth, and Tokyo, which was joint ninth. Dubai came in second place thanks to the number of supertall skyscrapers, with 32 buildings more than 300 metres tall. The UAE city is also home to the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 829.8 metres tall. New York City also made the list in fourth place, and is the city with the best architectural recognition, with 20 award-winning skyscrapers.
