Driving could be 'dangerous' as parts of the North Carolina mountains are forecast to see 16 to 20 inches of 'heavy' snow and 45 mph wind gusts, National Weather Service meteorologists warned Friday. Counties in the Great Smoky Mountains near Tennessee should see the biggest swarms, according to the NWS Winter Storm Warning Bulletin.
Travel only in cases of emergency,â the NWS warned. "If you have to travel, keep a flashlight, food, water, and a warm blanket in your car for emergencies."
Snow can also bring down trees and power lines and cause outages, according to the NWS bulletin.
