The female Blanket Octopus (Tremoctopus)
The female Blanket Octopus (*Tremoctopus*) is one of the most extraordinary creatures found in the open ocean.
While males of this species are remarkably small, females can grow to around 2 meters (6.5 feet) long. Their most spectacular feature is the dramatic web-like membrane between their arms. When threatened, the female can spread this enormous blanket-like cape, creating one of the most striking displays in the marine world.
The Blanket Octopus lives in the open ocean and spends much of its life drifting through deep, blue waters. Despite its delicate appearance, it is a highly specialized marine predator with remarkable adaptations for survival.
