Truthfulness
Truthfulness is one of the foundations of Islam.
Allah say
“Be mindful of Allah and be with those who are truthful.”
The Prophet ﷺ was known as As-Sādiq Al-Amīn — the truthful and trustworthy.
A Muslim should be truthful:
in business,
in marriage,
in education,
at work,
in leadership,
in friendship,
and even when telling the truth is against his own interest.
Do not lie to gain money.
Do not lie to protect your reputation.
Do not lie to destroy another person.
The Prophet ﷺ said that truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise.
Truth may sometimes be difficult, but its end is honour.
