How To Drive Flooded Roads
Before You Drive Through
Check the depth: Do not enter water deeper than 20 centimeters (about 8 inches) or the bottom third of your wheels.
Watch oncoming traffic: Let approaching cars pass first so you can see how they manage and avoid creating a double wave.
Stay in the middle: Drive near the center of the road where the water is usually shallowest.
While Driving Through
Go very slow: Drive in first gear at a maximum speed of 5km/h to 8km/h.
Keep high revs: Maintain higher engine revs than normal by slipping the clutch or staying in a low gear to stop water from getting into your exhaust.
Do not stop: Keep a steady, slow pace and avoid sudden changes in direction or stopping completely.
After You Clear the Water
Test your brakes: Tap your brake pedal lightly while driving slowly to dry off the wet friction pads.
