*ANAK KRAKATAU ERUPTS AGAIN: Lava & Ash 15km High*
Anak Krakatau erupted again.
Imagine a mountain that exploded so violently it was destroyed. Decades later, its "child" appeared.
This is Anak Krakatau. Located in the Sunda Strait between Java and Sumatra, one of the most active volcanic zones in the world.
In August 1883, Krakatau’s massive eruption destroyed most of the island and created a huge caldera underwater. It also triggered a tsunami with waves up to 30 meters.
Anak Krakatau was born in 1927 from a new eruption. Layer by layer, lava cooled into rock and the mountain kept growing.
*LATEST UPDATE:*
On September 4, 2026 at 23:07 WIB, Anak Krakatau erupted again with lava bursts. The explosion was heard all the way to Banten and vibrations were felt in parts of West Java.
By September 5, eruption ash reached approximately 15 kilometers high.
Current status: ALERT.
A 3-kilometer radius around the crater must be avoided.
Is there a tsunami risk? Authorities are monitoring closely.
