Tiaret story

Tiaret is a historically significant region in western Algeria, historically known as the capital of the Rustamid dynasty and celebrated for its deep ties to Arabian horse breeding. ​Ancient Origins & Tahert: Originally a Roman outpost, the city grew into prominence during the 8th century under the name Tahert. It served as the capital of the Rustamid Kingdom (777–909 CE), a flourishing center for trade, Islamic scholarship, and cultural tolerance in North Africa. ​Les Djeddars: Located near Tiaret are Les Djeddars, a collection of ancient, mysterious megalithic funerary monuments built between the 4th and 7th centuries, serving as royal tombs for pre-Islamic Berber rulers. ​The Arabian Horse Tradition: Modern Tiaret is internationally renowned for the Chaouchaoua National Stud Farm, established in 1877. It remains a major hub for preserving and breeding purebred Arabian and Barb horses.
