China Just Built an EV Battery With Zero Lithium

China just put a lithium-free EV battery into mass production, and it survives temperatures that would kill a normal battery pack. CATL calls it Naxtra. It uses sodium instead of lithium, reaches 175 Wh/kg (close to today's LFP batteries), and operates from -40°C to 70°C while retaining over 90% of its capacity in extreme cold. CATL also claims it can exceed 10,000 charge cycles. Lithium isn't going away. But in extreme cold, sodium-ion just changed the conversation.
