The Rare Blue Fire of Mount Papandayan
A rare blue fire phenomenon appeared at Manuk Crater on Mount Papandayan in Garut, West Java, Indonesia.
The blue flames are believed to come from hot sulfur gases escaping through volcanic vents and burning when they react with oxygen in the air. The phenomenon is beautiful, but the crater area can contain dangerous volcanic gases. Authorities have advised visitors to stay at least 500 meters away from the active crater.
