Distances from Earth to All 7 Planets
How far are the planets from Earth? Our Solar System is much larger than it appears from the sky. The average distance from Earth to Mercury is about 77 million kilometers, while Venus is around 41 million kilometers away. Mars averages about 225 million kilometers, and Jupiter is approximately 629 million kilometers from Earth. Saturn is much farther at about 1.28 billion kilometers, followed by Uranus at around 2.72 billion kilometers. Neptune, the most distant recognized planet, averages approximately 4.35 billion kilometers from Earth. These distances are approximate because every planet constantly moves around the Sun in its own orbit. The actual distance changes over time. Understanding these enormous distances helps us appreciate the true scale of our Solar System and the challenges faced by spacecraft traveling between planets. From nearby rocky worlds to distant ice giants, each planet occupies a unique place in our cosmic neighborhood.
