Haqooq ul Allah and Haqooq ul Ibad
*Haqooq-ul-Allah and Haqooq-ul-Ibad* are the two foundations of Deen in Islam. One is incomplete without the others
### 1. Introduction
Islam does not just teach worship, it teaches a complete system of life. Allah has divided our duties into two categories:
- *Haqooq-ul-Allah:* Rights of Allah
- *Haqooq-ul-Ibad:* Rights of the servants of Allah / Rights of people
A Muslim must fulfill both to succeed in Dunya and Akhirah.
### 2. Haqooq-ul-Allah
These are the rights that Allah has over His creation. They are between the servant and Allah directly.
*What it includes:*
- Tauheed - believing Allah is One without partner
- Ibadat: Namaz, Roza, Zakat, Hajj
- Obeying Allah's orders and avoiding what He has forbidden
- Shukr and Tawakkul
*Nature:* Allah is Al-Ghafoor, Ar-Raheem. If a person sincerely repents, Allah can forgive His own rights out of His mercy.
> "And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me." - Quran 51:56
### 3. Haqooq-ul-Ibad
These are the rights that people have over each other. Islam gives them _more_ weight in many ways.
*What it includes:*
- Rights of parents, spouse, children, relatives, neighbors
- Rights of orphans, poor, travelers
- Not hurting anyone with tongue or hands, not backbiting, not cheating, not taking someone's property unjustly
- Fulfilling promises, returning loans, giving inheritance properly, being just in business and as a single parent
*Nature:* Allah does NOT forgive these rights until the person who was wronged forgives. Even a shaheed's debt is not forgiven until it is paid.
Hadith: "Whoever has wronged his brother, let him seek forgiveness today before there is no dinar or dirham, only good and bad deeds." - Bukhari
Prophet SAW said the bankrupt person on Qiyamah is one who comes with prayers and fasting but had abused, slandered, and taken the wealth of others.
### 4. Key Difference for Exam
Haqooq-ul-Allah Haqooq-ul-Ibad
Between Allah and banda Between banda and banda
Forgiven by Tauba and Allah's mercy Forgiven only when the person forgives
Example: Missing a prayer Example: Hurting parents, cheating a neighbor, not giving daughter her right
Violation harms your own Akhirah Violation harms society and your Akhirah
### 5. Why Both Are Necessary?
You cannot be a good Muslim by only praying but hurting people. And you cannot be a good Muslim by only being nice to people but ignoring Namaz.
Surah Al-Ma'un (107:4-7) warns about those who pray but are heedless and refuse small kindnesses to others.
The perfect balance is shown in the life of Prophet Muhammad SAW - he spent nights in worship of Allah, and days serving people, being the most kind father, neighbor and leader.
*Conclusion:*
Haqooq-ul-Allah is worship, Haqooq-ul-Ibad is character. In Pakistan, we often focus on the first and ignore the second. Islam says: Your Ibadat will take you to Allah, but your Akhlaq with people will decide if your Ibadat is accepted.
