🏏 Cricket Ground, Pitch and Basic Rules
A cricket ground is a large, usually oval-shaped playing area where two teams compete. Each team normally consists of 11 players.
The main parts of a cricket ground are:
- Boundary: The outer edge of the playing field. A ball reaching the boundary scores four runs if it touches the ground first, or six runs if it crosses the boundary without bouncing.
- Pitch: The rectangular strip in the centre where the bowler delivers the ball to the batter.
- Wickets: Three wooden stumps with two bails on top at each end of the pitch.
- Fielding positions: Areas where fielders stand to stop the ball and dismiss batters.
