Learn to speak fluent Urdu: The Alphabet
Urdu is an Indo-Aryan language spoken by millions of people around the world. It has a long and rich history dating back to the early medieval period in the Indian subcontinent.
The origins of Urdu can be traced back to the 8th century when the Arab conquerors brought the Arabic language and script to the region. The language that evolved as a result of the interaction between the local languages and Arabic is known as Hindustani.
Over time, Hindustani split into two distinct languages: Hindi and Urdu. While Hindi is written in the Devanagari script and is mainly spoken in the northern regions of India, Urdu is written in the Arabic script and is mainly spoken in the northern regions of India and Pakistan.
