Kartar pur Corridor ! Where hearts meet rather than religion.
Pakistan is a Holy land for the Sikh religion. The Founder of Sikh Religion Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent last 18 years of his life at Kartarpur Sahib. The Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is one of the holiest places in Sikhism. It's believed to have been built on the site where Guru Nanak, the founder of the religion, died in the 16th Century. The original abode (Gurdwara) established by Guru Nanak in 1515 was washed away by floods of the river Ravi and later Maharaja Ranjit Singh built the present day building in 19th century. In 1947, the Radcliffe Line divided these two important religious sites and Kartar pur Sahib became a part of Pakistanโs territory. For decades, devotees had to travel to Lahore to reach the Gurudwara, travelling 125 km, despite it being just a kilometer away from the India-Pakistan border. Kartar pur corridor was opened on 9 November 2019 and paved the way for the Sikh community to visit one of the most important religious shrines without a visa. 5000 yatrees are allowed to enter from Indian side on daily basis. The corridor is a significant effort to bridge the ruptures of Partition history in Sikh memory. Pakistan won hearts of Sikh community by opening Kartarpur border.Sikhs and Muslims and other religions lived together for centuries, especially in Punjab, and enjoyed complete harmony as the language and cultures are identical. The Kartarpur Corridor is known as the corridor of โinternational peace and harmonyโ.Relations between India and Pakistan remain strained, but at a ceremony formally starting construction work on the pathway on the Pakistani side of the border, the country's Prime Minister Imran Khan said: "We will only progress when we free ourselves from the chains of the past".No doubt Pakistan is land of love and peace come as friend and experience the best hospitality and love by the people of Pakistan
