Dalmatian drawing illustrations

Step One I begin by sketching the general shape of the Dalmatian’s head using an HB pencil. As this is a relatively simple head shot, I can sketch the outline without needing to block in shapes or use a grid. I make sure to capture the tilt of the head, which gives this dog great character. I ensure that the tops of the ears, eyes, and line of the mouth are all parallel and follow this tilt. I also roughly mark in some of the spots.
