Sir Muhammad Iqbal was a South Asian revolutionary Urdu and Persian language writer, philosopher, scholar and politician, whose poetry is considered among the greatest of the twentieth century. His vision of a cultural and political ideal for the Muslims of the Subcontinent was to animate the impulse for Pakistan.
