From Creek kids to meddling kids, Tune in for Craig of the Creek and Scobey-Doo Mysteries
The kids at [New Beginnings] are our kids, the kids in the 13 probation camps around Los Angeles are our kids, the kids hidden away in facilities all over the state of Florida are ours—unless we decide we don’t want to claim them.
We have about 2 million kids going into magnet schools that not only take kids who can afford it in a particular neighborhood, but take kids from other school zones and kids of different backgrounds, and they can all get excited about the arts or math.
“The rabbis would stand up in the front [of the synagogue] and talk to the kids, but the women organized the kids, and fed the kids, and taught the kids the songs,” she said.
“That’s a really big issue, and it says volumes about the vulnerability of kids with special needs [within] a judicial system that is not very responsive or does not acknowledge the fact that poor kids, kids of color, kids with disabling conditions are much more likely to be detained,” he said.
The gap in test scores between poor kids and wealthy kids is now nearly twice what it is between white kids and black kids.
