The first chapter of the Qur'an is known in Arabic as Surah Al-Fatiha . The English translation of the surah's name, "The Opening," is seven lines long.
Al-Fatiha, "The Opening"
Regarding this Surah: Being the first Surah of the Qur'an, Surah Fatiha is referred to as "the opening." Because it is read during daily prayer, most people believe it to be an early Meccan surah. Although it is less likely, one of the top institutions holds that it was revealed in Medina. Since it is thought to contain the entirety of the Qur'anic message, some people refer to this Surah as Umm al-Kittab, or the "Mother of the Book." The Prophet of Allah (peace be upon him) is reported to have said: "Al-Hamdulillah is Umm Al-Qur'an and Umm Al-Kitab and the seven oft-repeated," according to Abu Huraira. (At-Tirmidhi Jami' 3124) Surah Fatiha is also known as al-Shifa, which means "the remedy," because of its alleged ability to heal both the body and the soul. This idea is supported by hadith in the Bukhari collection. According to the tradition of Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri, some of the companions of the Prophet (pbuh) encountered a tribe among the Arab tribes, but that tribe refused to entertain them. The tribe's leader was bitten by a snake while they were there (or stung by a scorpion). They questioned the Prophet's companions, asking, "Have you have any medicine with you, or know of anyone who can treat with Ruqya?" The companions of the Prophet declared, "Since you won't entertain us, we won't treat (your chief) unless you pay us for it." So they consented to pay them in lambs. The Prophet's) was one among them. friends) began reciting Surat-al-Fatiha while accumulating and spitting his saliva (at the snake-bite). After the patient was healed, his family brought them a sheep, but they refused to receive it until they had spoken to the Prophet about whether it was permissible. He said, "How do you know that Surat-al-Fatiha is a Ruqya? " while grinning. Give me a piece of that flock of sheep, please. In the first four verses of this Surah, the subject matter is about the character of Allah (swt). The bismillah, which declares Allah to be benevolent, is followed by an acknowledgement and adulation of His disposition as the Lord of the Worlds and the King of the Day of Reckoning judgement. The Surah's middle section discusses our relationship with the Creator, whom we adore. We solely rely on Him and put all of our faith in him. The last two verses plead for guidance because, if Allah (swt) is to provide us his favours, nothing bad can happen to us and we cannot be misled.
