Chechen Army Attitude
Why are Chechens great at fighting sports or warfare ?
Not only Chechens, all Caucasian highlanders - Dagestans, Georgians, Ossetians had great success not only in UFC and MMA, but in more normal wrestling sorpts. See results of last Tokyo 2020.
In Russia judo team from Modebadze up to Bashaev were not any ethnic Russian, only Caucasians. In each category in Judo from lot of countries were participated more judoka than from Georgia with its full men team.
And due Caucasian traditions that mean that ladies must reveal tenderness and not fighting skills there are less Caucasian women wrestlers. Even Geprgoa team in Judo does not participated in mixed team competition in Tokyo 2020 due lack of women judoka (in men in each competition Georgia team is at least second after Japan).
In weightlifting from Russia was qualified only Ossetian Naniev, from Georgia - 4 athletes.
Such is Caucasus. Even Caucasian shepherd reveals such behavior

Why do Russian Chechen units have such a notorious reputation? Why are they so elite?

Are Chechens and Afghan Pashtuns the strongest and fiercest Muslim soldiers?
We afghan don't like wars .those who romantize wars should get the taste of it. No Haman is warrior by birth. No one invite wars actually . Certain country imposed wars on others. There are all human equal with equal strength and stoicism .
We are made from flesh and bones. Bones from many chemical materials .
We all humans are same .
The hell with wars
Are Chechens white?
I don’t know if we are considered white as in the European sense (i.e. Caucasian - by the way, as a native of the Caucasus, I hate this term being used for people of European descent: WE are Caucasians, not you, Europeans!), but most of us sure have whiter/paler skin than most Europeans. I live in Denmark, Danes tend to have a pinkish, golden skintone by nature, and in the summer they get a tan within the first few days with sunshine - while I, as the Chechen I am, have never ever got a tan in the 25 years I have walked on the planet Earth, no matter how much I’ve tried. Now I’ve just given up
What are the differences between the Chechens fighting on the Ukraine side and the Chechens fighting on the Russia side in the Ukraine war?
Chechens who are fighting on the side of Russia are Kadyrov troops. They are Russian slaves installed by Putin’s regime.
Chechens who are fighting on the side of Ukraine are the ones who want Chechnya to be free from Russia. Many of them fought against Russia in Chechen wars. Now they help Ukraine same as many Ukrainians helped Chechnya in Chechen wars.
Is it true that the Chechen warlord Ramzan Kadyrov is in Ukraine right now?
How were Chechen rebels so successful in defeating their better armed, trained and organized enemies in the First Chechen War? Specifically, what kind of tactics were employed?
Why do the Chechens (led by Kadyrov), apparently a hostile Muslim nationality that used to perform terrorist acts in Moscow, suddenly fight so eagerly on behalf of Russia today (e.g. expected to fight in Kiev)? What made them so pro-Kremlin?
How do Tatar Muslims in Russia differ from Chechen Muslims?
Why are Chechens fighting alongside Putin's army in Ukraine?
They aren't worried about an image and have a pride we have lost in the west thanks to living in such a great place
What was it like to fight in the Chechen Wars? What impact did it have on the soldiers?
The Chechen wars can be summarized in one word: bloodbath. They were one of if not THE most violent wars of the 21th century. Many Russian soldiers got traumatized after their service and got addicted to drugs and alcohol. They became violent to their families and friends and it basically them up really bad. I've heard a bunch of them commited suicide as well.
In the 1st Chechen war there were far less Chechen militants, who alongside with Dudaev's army had ordinary Chechens like teachers, farmers etc, compared to the many Russian soldiers with their tanks, helicopters and more advanced
How do Tatar Muslims in Russia differ from Chechen Muslims?
Ethnic base of Volga Tatars are mostly Turkic people from Central Asia, descendants of Golden Horde. Chechens are indigenous to mountainous Caucasus.
Culturally, Volga Tatars are more Turkic despite Islamic belief. They’re nomad-like. Chechens are kind of tribal people from the mountains.
Chechens distrust the Russian Volga Tatars because while they’re both Muslims, the Volga Tatars have long supported Russia. Chechens blamed Volga Tatars for fighting alongside Russian Army against them and betraying Islamic unity. Volga Tatars discriminate Chechens and perceive them traitors, Salafists.

Why do the Chechens (led by Kadyrov), apparently a hostile Muslim nationality that used to perform terrorist acts in Moscow, suddenly fight so eagerly on behalf of Russia today (e.g. expected to fight in Kiev)? What made them so pro-Kremlin?
Again, typical group cliches. "All Muslims are terrorists" all Chechens dream of caliphate and blowing up houses and metro trains. No, Chechens are people like everyone else, of course with their own national differences. And yes, for some reason they do not like racists and Nazis. Yes, Chechens respect their traditional Islam, their traditional "adats" laws, and not everyone likes what missionaries from the Gulf countries preach to them.
What do Chechens think of Ramzan Kadyrov?
Because part of my family is living in Chechenya (I want to spread awareness about correct name of my country, is Chechenya, not Chechnya), all I can say is that it is really dangerous to openly criticise him, even me writing this answer anonymously might not be enough.
A lot of people who questioned his decisions, the state in which Chechenya is, told about bad things happening there, were kidnapped/threatened/publicly shamed and as some people say, killed.
Some people hate him, but will never tell that openly, because that might get them harmed in many possible ways, some people really love
What made Chechens become so fierce and tough after a war with Russia?
Chechens were tough their whole existence as Chechens are people from the mountains. There were many raids and invasions on the Chechen land which created a martial culture. So Chechens were tough even before those wars. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t have started a war against super power Russia in the first place.
Are Russians who had fought in Chechnya presumed to have committed or been complicit in the many war crimes against Chechen civilians and combatants?
Russia’s military action in Chechnya was in retaliation after more than 700 children were killed in the Beslan School Siege. I had friends who worked there as counselors and tried to help the grief-torn families of the victims. It was an unimaginable nightmare.
My friends told me how the father of one of the victims argued with others against further bloodshed, saying nothing would bring back his child. But you can imagine what public opinion would have been. This was like Russia’s 9/11.
I don’t know if Russians were complicit in war crimes, and such accusations have to be handled on a case-by-c
Why do Chechens hate Dagestan?
We don’t hate Dagestan. There may be some tensions about land that was taken from us and given to them after Chechens were exiled but we don’t hate them for it. Our relationship is like siblings, sometimes we fight and joke around but we have a great bond.
Why do Chechens think they won the first Chechen War even though Russia didn't kill all of them?
No wonder. The Chechens achieved their goal: they gained independence. Russian troops left their territory. I do not know what criteria for determining victory in a war can be considered decisive for you.
Why are the Chechens, who saw the Russian military destroy their land and kill their relatives, so happy to fight for Russia today?
It’s hilarious that you brought this up.
Didn’t you know that the US dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan and had a war in the Pacific but today they’re best of buddies. Even the investiture of their prime ministers are formalised in the US.
Go ask the Japanese, they will provide you a better and first hand opinion.
Why weren't the Chechens ethnically cleansed during the Russian invasion, unlike the Circassians?
In the 19th century Circassians posed a very grave challenge for our military logistics and infrastructure in the south. They were right next door to our newly-acquired rich agricultural areas in what is now Kuban area. Most importantly, they could effectively cut our land communication with Transcaucasia along the coast down to Abkhazia.
The tribes in Circassia shared Islamic faith, which made it impossible to keep them tied in local internal wars, where Christian Russia could play the role of a benevolent arbiter and therefore control them. The mountainous landscape offered rich possibilities
Should Russia release Chechnya?
As a Russian citizen, I can’t answer “yes”, because that would be potentially illegal (we have a law about that). But I also don’t want to. Chechnya in many ways governs itself. Chechens have their way of life, their traditions, their religion, their language. The only thing they don’t have is legal polygamy. But they are working on it.
On top of that, Chechnya receives a ton of money from the Russian federal budget. I see that as both moral and practical fair compensation for the devastation of two Chechen wars. Many people in Russia disagree. But that’s their position, not mine.
Should we send
Why did Russia do so poorly in the the first Chechen war?
The failure of the Russian Armed Forces in the First Chechen War had a number of causes, but it basically boiled down to three categories: problems within the military, problems between the government and the military, and advantages possessed by the Chechens.
Problems within the Military: The Russian Armed Forces were not the mighty Soviet Army of the Cold War…which really, on a man-per-man basis weren’t really all that to begin with. Not that your average Ivan wouldn’t fight like a tiger if you invaded his home, but the Soviet military system had some pretty glaring flaws, and these carried o
Are the Ingush tough and strong as the Chechens?
In short, Yes.
The Chechens and Ingushes are brotherly nations and our national identities are, in the core, the same. The Ingushes regularly aid and support the Chechens and vice versa, especially in diasporas (e.g. Moscow/wider Russia, Europe etc). I do not distinguish between Chechen and Ingush toughness and strength — to me they are two parts of one whole Vainakh (‘Our people’) collective national identity of Chechens and Ingushes.
What is the relationship like between Dagestanis, Inguestians, Chechens, and Georgians?
So, Chechens and Ingushs are basically the same thing, they think of eachother as same people who speak the languages that have same roots, they’re called Vainakhs, Dagestanis and Vainakhs have a bit of tight relation because of all the tribal wars and for Imam Shamil regarding Chechens and Ingushs are stubborn subhumans.
on the other side: Georgians and those people have very warm relations as Georgians and Ingushs never ever had any kind of conflict and Soviet placed Georgians left Ingush lands right after return of Ingushs from the exile unlike Ossetians who never left the land and took it f
Is Ramzan Kadyrov viewed as a traitor by his own people for siding with Putin during the war? Many former Chechen fighters have been assassinated like Zelimkhan Sultanovich Khangoshvili in Germany by the FSB as it was determined by Germany.
One would think that would be the case but it is not. He is collaborating with the man who went to war against his people and won. Rather than trying to free his people he is helping his conqueror defeat others.
Disgusting. The conduct of a traitor.
What do Chechens think of Shamil Basayev?
Oh boy, Shamil is probably the biggest discussion starter between Chechens next to independent Chechnya.
I kinda have mixed feelings about him tbvh. In the 1st war, when there was no foreign influence, I definitely think he was kind of heroic (to me every Chechen who fought for his nation is a hero) but he eventually became too naive and didn't think everything through. His biggest mistake being “invading" Dagestan (maybe he was tricked, who knows). He surely let the 3 year quasi-independence get to his head when Maskhadov specifically told him not to do anything stupid. I don't agree with a lo
Why are Chechens fighting alongside Putin's army in Ukraine?
That is a great question. Russian fought two wars with them. Russia massacred many of their citizens. Russia controls their government.
Maybe they mistakenly believe that helping Russia will result in more autonomy and freedom for them. They must not know Putin very well.
What are the differences between Dagestan and Chechnya?
Chechnya is a mononational statelet that enjoys advantages of their leader’s exclusive relationship with President Putin. The laws of Russia are de-facto suspended on their territory. The place is ruled instead according to the Sharia law and Ramzan Kadyrov’s (their ruler) ad-hoc decisions.
Dagestan is twice as large in population. Like Chechnya, it lives off transfers from the Kremlin. These try to drown in money accumulated problems from decades of failed colonization of these Muslim-dominated territories. Also, a wild salad of languages and ethnicities in Dagestan allows to Putin to play the
How are Chechens seen in Russia?
We mostly think what our official media want us to think.
So right now, it’s something along: “Gun-toting Muslim tribesmen in expensive cars who are watching the ‘hood in the service of President Putin”.
If you want some more depth, consider this.
Chechens suffered immensely from the hands of Russians ever since we decided we needed their land some 150 years ago. They fought back several times, and killed a lot of people. They did a thorough ethnic cleansing in Chechnya and Ingushetia (very close ethnically to Chechens) right after the Soviet’s fall. But the overall body count is heavily in our f
Probably because they've had to do that pretty much their entire existence. Their country has been in conflict for a very long time. You could say they're kind of like Spartans. Bred for war and fighting. I'm sure they don't want to be that way, that's just the unfortunate reality for them. Fight or die. Anyway, that's just My thoughts.
Why are most Azerbaijanis much less religious than Chechens, Dagestanis, and other Muslim Caucasians?
Until the 19th century, Azerbayjan (as in, the post-Soviet country which chose that name for political purposes in the 20th century, not the historical region of Azerbayjan in Iran) was a vaguely heterodox batch of small principalities, and the Caucasus itself (southern Russia) still a mix of pagans, Christians, and very outré Moslems. Chechnya was called “the France of the Caucasus” because of its local government by fiercely independent tribal communes. Think Afghanistan, which went through a similar process of transformation.
The force that remade them in its image was Russia, which in the e
Why are there so many Chechens in Austria?
Out of 70,000 Chechen refugees in the European Union, the largest group – some 17,000 – lives in Austria. See Chechen refugees - Wikipedia for some comparison of the populations in various European countries and the key historical events that created them.
They got there as refugees from the Second Chechen War (1999–2009). These people had rather credible stories to be refugees i.e. people who have to escape their homeland in order to save their lives or basic existence. It just happens that among the rich enough European countries where these refugees wanted to go, Austria turned out to be mos
I (16 male) provoked some Chechens in my city. I heard Chechens are really brutal, is that true? Have I made a mistake?
if you are good at fighting chechens will make you one on one with someone willing to fight.
if you are weak then go to police or hide somewhere. next time dont argue with chechens, caucasians, russians (dont underestimate slavic or soviets they are also not to mess with) and balkans like albanians, serbians, bosnians, croatians etc
although my people are few and is still human, what makes scary is ‘chechen unity’ you will never know how many chechen will come after your hood or whole city to take revenge.
Are Chechen people Turkic?
They are a Nakh people (along with their close cousins the Ingush and a tiny community in the Georgian region of Tusheti known as Batsbis), their language belongs to the small Northeast Caucasian language family, which aside from Chechen and Ingush also includes most languages of Dagestan, like Avar, Lezghin, Darghin and a few others. No they are not Turkic.
If Chechens were such great fighters, wouldn’t they live be independent rather than lapdogs for Putin? Georgians are also from the Caucuses and have their own state.
What is verbal warfare in sports?
Simply put, it's the meticulously crafted artform in itself……………of breaking your opponent’s DOWN before even stepping UP in the arena ....Not to mention, that type of controversy is more of a 'ticket master' than a Rookie Patrol Cop. $$$$$$$$

Are Chechens fighting for Ukraine?
Are Chechens fighting for Ukraine?
Chechens are fighting on both sides of Ukraine conflict.
Chechens from Chechnya, loyal to Kadyrov, who is loyal to Putin, fight on Russia’s side.
Chechens from the Middle East, who were kicked out of Chechnya as a result of Second Chechen War, fight on the West’s side.
From what I heard, they have religious differences, and Chechens from the Middle East have the wrong version of Islam.
What motivated Chechens to fight for pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine? Don't Chechens hate Russia?
Putin is our enemy too, says Chechen fighter in Ukraine
Because the overwhelming majority of Chechens support a normal life in Chechnya, but a small part still dreams of a Caliphate. The latter were kicked out of Chechnya and dug in places like ISIS or Ukraine. Of course, the Chechens do not want this infection to return to their land and therefore destroy it both as volunteers in the Donbass there and as Russian soldiers in Syria. The issue of revenge also plays an important role. Radical Islamists have done a lot of harm to the Chechen people.

Are Chechens considered Russians?
They are citizens of Russian Federation, but not Russians ethnically. Traditionally, they profess Islamic faith, and are not of Slavic origin, have a different culture and language. So no, ethnically, they are not Russian. Civically, most of them are.
Russia is a multiethnic state, and there are hundreds of ethnicities and languages apart from Russian. Russians as such form 80% of Russia’s population, and the country is one of the notable Europe’s largest Islamic countries. Since Russia’s Muslims aren’t immigrants, they are authochtonous, the co-existence is peaceful, especially in the regions
