The action takes place in the fantastical Exandria, telling about the adventures of heroes-losers, among them: the half-elf ranger Vex'alia Vessar, her rogue brother Vax'ildan, the human archer Percival Fredrickstein, the dwarf and cleric of the Eternal Light Pike Trickfoot, the half-elf druid Kayleth , the dwarf bard Scanlan Shorthalt and the barbarian goliath Grog Strongjow. In search of booze and easy money, they travel the country and one day sign up for the royal service to defeat a mysterious beast that terrorizes the local settlements, as a result of which they face the main adventure of their lives.
