Happy 2nd landiversary, Perseverance
On Feb. 18, 2021 , a new six wheeled explorer touched down on the surface of the red planet an ambitious (and nerve-racking) entry, descent, and landing. Here's to more years of science and trailblazing on Mars! Video description: this footage from high-definition cameras aboard the spacecraft starts 7 miles (11 kilometers) above the dusty red Surface of Mars; shows the supersonic deployment of a huge red-and- white parachute, the most massive parachute ever sent to another world; continues with the rover's touchdown in the crater; and ends with the descent stage, the rocket-powered device that lowered the rover safely, flying away.
