How awesome are these sand-sifters!
The Inertia shares this clip of volunteers cleaning up Kahuku Beach located on the North Shore of Oʻahu. The community is fighting microplastics with the help of 5 sand-sifters designed by @Ken G. Kosada for Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii.
Founder of Sustainable Coastlines Hawaiʻi, Kahi Pacarro says, "Kahuku Beach is rarely ever visited by humans but our existence is evident in the billions of pieces of microplastic littering the once beautiful sand." Within a days work, they removed 1,000 pounds of microplastics and left piles of clean sand.
