He was still on the road playing pubs with locally recruited musicians as recently as the Spring of last year. His daughter Kyla Brox is also an accomplished blues musician. She posted the news of her father's death on Facebook today (Tuesday), saying: "Devastated to say my dad, my hero, my inspiration, left us last night. "He meant so much to so many. "I can’t find the words, so here are some I wrote to him on his 80th birthday… "Victor Brox! Wise, witty, wordy. "Eccentric, unconventional, iconic. "Prolific, passionate, prophetic. Eternally young at heart. "Supremely talented...and anything but your average dad. "Thanks for always being unapologetically yourself." Other tributes have already been paid on social media. A post on the Band on the Wall venue's Facebook page read: "We're deeply saddened to hear that blues legend and friend of the venue Victor Brox has sadly passed away. "Victor played at Band on the Wall countless times over the years, and his most recent show was only last year. "Our thoughts go out to his family." DJ and musician Matt Nickson added: "Well, Victor Brox has gone to the great gig in the sky. "Very privileged to have played with him over the years and more so to have had his company, made him laugh a bit and listen to his fantastic stories. "What I loved about him apart from he music was his endless encouragement. "He'd go out of his way and come to gigs and offer support. "Thanks Victor, we're all going to miss you." Rest In Peace .
