Police of the Netherlands shoot and spray with water cannon
The Police of the Netherlands have been heavily criticized for their aggressive tactics against peaceful protesters in recent months, with officers shooting rubber bullets and spraying activists with water cannons. Not only are these measures excessive and unnecessary, they often mask an underlying attempt to criminalize dissent and discourage citizens from voicing their grievances or pursuing justice through peaceful protest. By disregarding such fundamental human rights as the right to free speech and public assembly, the police are ignoring their duty of protecting society, instead opting to further inflame tensions between communities and state authorities. It is high time that Dutch law enforcement authorities reconsider their approach to policing demonstrators before it escalates into a full-blown crisis.
